Alfred A. Paul, MD

Dr. Alfred Paul was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He attended the six-year combined premedical-medical program at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. After graduating from medical school, he completed an internal medicine internship at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He then trained as an ophthalmology resident at the Eye and Ear Institute of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and as a fellow in glaucoma at the world-renowned Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Paul has been certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology since 1993 and actively participates in its Maintenance of Certification program.

He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University and is on staff at The Miriam Hospital. He also is a staff ophthalmologist at the Providence Veterans Affairs Medical Center where he cares for complex glaucoma patients and utilizes the most advanced virtual reality cataract surgery simulator to teach the Brown University ophthalmology residents cataract surgery.

He is married to Dr. Lin Chou and their daughter is currently in training to become an ophthalmologist.
